Warning: Detailed review + tips(Global) Rakuten is really amazing! But it really depends on the seller, just like with ebay. So far I've encountered good, authentic sellers. In global Rakuten some sellers will only ship overseas via EMS. Some also offers economy shipping, but I wouldn't recommend it since EMS is faster and got insurrance. I'm from Europe so the EMS parcels I receive all the way from Japan takes me max 5-6 days only!I'm a cosmeticmaniac so I always buy Japanese cosmetics, and I can say that the prices there are way cheaper than the other online stores who also sells Japanese cosmetics... For twice as the price on Rakuten. I have to admit the total amount would sometimes be equivalent to what I would buy on cosmetic websites that retail it 2x the price than Rakuten does, but it's really worth it because the fast shipping and insurrance as well in case something happens, but I still manage to save time, money buying stuff on rakuten and 4/5 times I actually save more cash.Some sellers are better to communicate in English than others. Note that NOT every seller ships overseas, so before you purchase anything you should take a look at the seller's profile and shipping policy. I will say 99% of the sellers supports visa, mastercard and paypal. If you still want the item despite it can't be shipped overseas, please search up for some trustable Japanese agencies like Tenso (I've never needed an agent, but they have good reputation). I've dealt with 4-5 sellers and they all understand English good enough and communicate average, but I would recommend you to communicate with ''simple English'' so it's easier for them to understand you. Also please don't trust their ''estimated shipping'' rates. Everytime I've calculated per item's gram and the shipping prices it will go wrong; I have to always pay more than what my calculation says considering the parcel itself also weigh something as well. But again, it's fine since the item's I buy are so much cheaper than other stores.If you pay via paypal, you can try leaving a note asking for the seller to mark as a gift or write a lower value to avoid tax... But it depends on which seller you're dealing with, some did for me and some didn't (they marked as merchandise instead). But so far I haven't been charged for tax :)Rakuten is awesome just like Gmarket global!

Ordered an expensive watch from Rakuten via the shop called '1More'. Arrived with no problems from Japan to me in the UK. Customs fee was expensive at £87.55 but I knew it would be a fair amount. Its 20% for vat plus a handling cost. Seller was helpful even though his English is not the best. Happy with my watch and the service. Could be quicker but not much you can do about that. Its customs that slows it down.

Rakuten has tons of products for sale from a variety of sellers. I usually buy Japanese stuff. The shipping is usually pricey, around 15 - 20 dollars for me, but you can find plenty of good deals on the products themselves and the shipping is really fast. I always get my orders in less than a week. I have used this site many times and have never had any problems, so I highly recommend it if you don't mind the shipping cost. It can be confusing at first but just remember after making an order, wait for the seller to email you with the shipping cost.
