My recent experience with Tire Rack was terrible! It’s not because of the products they are selling but instead their website and more so their customer service. I’ll start off by saying that I have had numerous happy purchases in the past, consisting of tires, brakes rotors and pads, wheel packages, and actual tire racks. I have had excellent customer service and technical support in the pass. All of these were typical, “standard” orders. However, for my last purchase I wanted an aggressive fitment tire package for my Subaru Forester XT. I did my research on numerous forums and tire/wheel sizing sites and choose an aggressive fitment of 255 45 R18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S on 18X9.5 45 5x100 Enkei TFR concave. Here is where I encountered my first obstacle, Tire Rack’s website. On the Tire Rack website there doesn’t seem to be a way to select a wheel without selecting a vehicle and selecting a vehicle of 2017 Subaru Forester there is no option to select a wheel width of 9.5 for 18” wheels. I was only able to select that wheel size through brute force trail and error selecting different vehicles until hitting the combo of 2017 Subaru BRZ. Not a user-friendly experience.Knowing this isn’t a standard order I called Tire Rack Customer Service and relayed that I wanted to purchase an aggressive fitment tire package for a 2017 Subaru Forester and that I was only able to select the tire package I wanted by manipulating the website selection to a vehicle of BRZ and how I should place this type of order; should I order it via customer service instead. I was told to order it via the website, but that fitment would not be guarantee. After placing the order online, I received a call back asking for confirmation of tire size “…because this was a bigger tire than typically order”. Again, I relayed I wanted to purchase an aggressive fitment tire package for a 2017 Subaru Forester and that I was only able to select the tire package I wanted by manipulating the website selection to a vehicle of BRZ instead and was told to order it via online this way and confirmed the tire size. When I received my tire package, I realized that unlike in the pass the invoice did not include the tpms sensor IDs preventing me from programming it into the car with the tool, ATEQ TPMS QUICKSET RESET TOOL, I purchased from Tire Rack in the past. I called Tire Rack Customer Service and they indicated that they stopped reading and recording the tpms sensor IDs before shipment and that I could go to a garage and have them read. I indicated that this could be an additional cost for customers, and it isn’t the best support for a tool they sold me in the past.I let it go and bough my car to a local tire shop, but they couldn’t read the sensor. I bought it to another local tire shop and same, no reading from the sensors! Surprised and via some troubleshooting we finally was able to figure out the issue, it was the wrong kind of sensors; it was sensors for a Subaru BRZ!I called Tire Rack Customer Service again and let them know that I have the wrong kind of tpms sensors and how can we resolve this. I was told that these are the sensors I ordered as I had inputted BRZ on the order to which I responded that this was the way I was told to place the ordered and that I spoke with customer service rep before placing the order that this was for a Forester and also during the confirmation call that the order was for a Forester. After escalating to supervisor, I was told that they are only willing to refund me the cost of the tpms sensor upon receiving the return and that I will have to order the correct sensors. Tire Rack refuse to acknowledge any fault in this issue nor cover any cost to have the sensors replacement in the tires and rebalancing.I have since ordered new correct sensors and have them installed on the wheels at my cost. I still have the old sensors, no return information, no return label, no RMA #, no return call or email upon further inquiry of how to return the incorrect sensors. They have lost a loyal customer; I will never purchase anything from them again. A bright side to the story; I am very happy with the wheel fitment and look.***Contacted by Tire Rack Customer Support. Will be updating review upon resolution.***Tire Rack has since fully reimbursed me for the cost to have the incorrect tmps sensors swap out for the correct ones. They have also arranged for UPS to pick up the incorrect sensors and I hopefully will be seeing the credit for them once the return have been processed. Thank you for getting this resolved and renewing my faith in this company.
