Living DNA completely surpassed my expectations! The kit was extremely simple to use and send off, and the results were processed surprisingly quickly. My results are very accurate for my Great Britain regional breakdown - I see the regions corresponding to my parents and grandparents. I see one region that I did not expect - so I will have to try to figure out why I see that! Friendly and helpful customer support.

Reasonably priced and accurate results. The current 2020 update accurately represents my known historical ancestry. It's best if you're mostly of British descent, but non British ancestry coverage is improving. It's a good supplement to Ancestry.com's DNA test should that test indicate that you're mostly British/Irish. If so, go ahead and pay for Living DNA's test rather than uploading Ancestry's raw DNA to Living DNA. It's worth the money, IMO.You'll get a detailed breakdown of your British ancestry.

I’ve uploaded my raw DNA to LivingDNA, not sure what to make of the results as I have zero matches. I don’t think it can be as accurate as Ancestry and MyHeritage as I have loads with them. LivingDNA hasn’t picked up any Scandinavian heritage I’m suppose to have, on MyHeritage I have quite a few cousins who are from Scandinavia. Both Ancestry and MyHeritage picked up on it, it would be easy to assume quite a lot of English have Scandinavian ancestry due to Vikings and they left their DNA signature. I also have extensive Irish ancestry on my Mother’s side, I’ve done a paper trail and found quite a lot of generations all in the Leinster province but LivingDNA said it’s 37.3% for Ireland and 17.8% NI. I can’t find anything on my paper trail to suggest this Northern Irish DNA. One good thing is it did confirm some Scottish ancestry, my Dad’s surname is very Scottish but there’s also quite a lot of Irish surnames in there too so I’m not sure if my English has been overplayed. It came back with 34% English. I’m sure with time and more people testing, the results will change and it’s obvious why Living DNA won’t tell you how many they have in their database. Compared to the other DNA companies, it falls a lot shorter than that and they need a lot more samples to fine tune the results. Overall, go for it if you have mostly British DNA as it does go into more detail on the British Isles. They need a lot more Irish samples and obviously the rest of the world to become one of the forefront’s of genealogical DNA testing.

Haplogroups tested under Living DNA were more detailed (to a lower level subclade) than those received from anothe large testing company (23m) in my experience.Question: The new DNA starter looks like a great item for Christmas gifts. Does it allow the tester to download their raw DNA files just like the legacy products?

It's offering autosomal test and basic level haplogroup test at a very economical price. Also it's a great alternative for people (like me) whose country is not serviceable by companies like 23&me, Ancestry.Edit: I forgot to add. Yes, I am very much satisfied with the results and they are accurate enough. My main motivation behind buying a Living DNA kit was to get my haplogroups; I already have undergone autosomal testing from a different company & on comparing them I can say that Living DNA did a fine job!
